Celebrate World Oceans Day 2021 with Live It!

Did you know, that the ocean was the inspiration for the creation of Live it Earth?

For our final program this school year, we want to celebrate World Oceans Day with you!

We will celebrate being underwater, all that lives beneath the waves, and how we are connected to the ocean, no matter where we live.

In our Show on June 10th, we’ll explore 3 of the 7 Ocean Literacy Principles.

Mike Irvine, co-founder and CEO of Live It, will answer all our questions about how the ocean supports a great diversity of life and ecosystems (principle #5). Mike completed a Masters in the Faculty of Education, Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Victoria and is a long-time diver and an advocate for ocean literacy.

We’ll explore how the ocean and humans are inextricably interconnected (principle #6) with Jeff Welch. Jeff is from the T’Sou-ke Nation on the west Coast of Vancouver Island and has  worked on Live It productions such as  Orca Live,  Race Rocks, and Salmon Run Live.

And finally, we’ll talk about how the ocean is largely unexplored (principle #7) with Maeva Gauthier, co-founder of Live It. Maeva is a marine ecologist who has worked on deep-sea ecosystems and coastal mapping in the Pacific and Arctic oceans using remotely operated vehicles.

Our teacher resources will be available on Monday, May 31

Our Feature Show will air on Thursday, June 10
